Definition

EN

relation between heat transfer into a fluid from a surface and its heat transfer by convection, expressed by

S t = K / ( ρ v c p ) ; where

K :: is coefficient of heat transfer (ISO 80000-5: Thermodynamics) through the surface,

ρ :: is mass density (ISO 80000-4: Mechanics),

v :: is speed (ISO 80000-3: Space and time), and

c p :: is specific heat capacity at constant pressure (ISO 80000-5: Thermodynamics) of the fluid

FR

K :: est le coefficient de transmission thermique (ISO 80000-5: Thermodynamics) à travers la surface;

ρ :: est la masse volumique (ISO 80000-4: Mechanics);

Notes

EN

The Stanton number is also given by

S t = N u / ( R e ⋅ P r ) = N u / P e ; where

N u :: is Nusselt number for heat transfer (Nusselt number <heat transfer>),

R e :: is the Reynolds number (Reynolds number),

P r :: is the Prandtl number (Prandtl number), and

P e :: is the Péclet number (Péclet number <heat transfer>).

Sometimes this quantity is called Margoulis number, symbol M s or M g .

FR

N u :: est le nombre de Nusselt pour le transfert de chaleur (Nusselt number <heat transfer>);

R e :: est le nombre de Reynolds (Reynolds number);

P e :: est le nombre de Péclet (Péclet number <heat transfer>).
